The Eudora School District is seeking qualified applicants for the Virtual and Alternative Teacher position in the Cardinal Academy. Eudora High School Cardinal Academy is designed for Eudora School District students who need an alternative high school approach to succeed during their high school experience, obtain a high school diploma, and be prepared for life post-high school. Cardinal Academy approaches each student’s needs individually, but students are still expected to adhere to the district’s rules, procedures, and policies.  In addition, the Virtual and Alternative Teacher will be passionate about fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students in grades 6-12 and adult learners in a virtual and in-person environment, overseeing students in Eudora Schools Virtual Learning.  ESVL is a 6-12 and adult learning virtual education experience.

 

The candidate should possess: 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  2. Kansas teaching certification for grades 6-12.
  3. Proven experience in virtual teaching and/or familiarity with online learning platforms.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective virtual collaboration.
  5. Technologically proficient, with the ability to adapt to new tools and platforms.    

 

Some Responsibilities Include: 

 

  1. Curriculum Development: Analyze and Adapt lesson plans and curriculum materials for online and in-person delivery, ensuring they align with educational standards and objectives. 
  2. Instructional Delivery: Deliver high-quality virtual and in-person instruction using various teaching methods and technologies to ensure student engagement and comprehension. 
  3. Assessment, Grading, and Feedback: Implement regular assessments to evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to support their learning journey. Evaluate student work, assignments, and assessments to offer timely,  constructive feedback and assign grades. Monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement. Ensure student integrity and originality are maintained. 
  4. Individualized Support: Offer individualized support to students, addressing their unique learning needs and challenges. Provide additional resources or guidance to help students grasp complex concepts.
  5. Classroom Management: Establish and enforce classroom rules and expectations. Address behavioral issues and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment. 
  6. Parent Involvement: Encourage parental involvement in the learning process. Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  7. Technology Integration: Be proficient in using educational technology tools and platforms. Integrate technology into lessons to enhance the learning experience and keep students engaged.
